The origins of Chopard watches date back into the 1800’s. In 1860, Louis-Ulysse Chopard opened a watch making shop in Sonvilier which is in the famous Swiss Jura region. Leaning on his own family steeped in tradition with a passion for watch making and he put his own unique ideas to work. Chopard Watch Company soon acquired an great name for its precise Chopard watches. These Chopard watches were in fact so accurate that they aspired to being one of the largest wrist watch suppliers to the railway of Switzerland, known for it’s uncanny ability to be on time.
Many high profile men and women of the past and present preferred a Chopard watch to many other brands. Then in 1996, Chopard chose to return to its heritage by becoming a full fledged wrist watch manufacture in Fleurier, located in the Swiss Jura area, where a new automatic mechanical movement was designed and made. Chopards LUC 4R Quattro Régulateur model, was just voted Watch of the Year for 2004 by a panel of judges at the Montres Passion and Uhrenwelt magazine.
