Abraham-Louis Breguet lived from (1747-1823) he was one of the small number of watchmakers who had real innovative genius and made a solid mark in the industry of watchmaking. Both Napoléon and Wellington were consulting their Breguet watches at the battle of Waterloo!
Other well known Breguet watch owners include Dumas Count of Monte Cristo, Phileas Fogg, who raced against time in Jules Vernes famous story Around the world in Eighty Days.
Since 1787 every Breguet watch is catalogued with the name of the watchmaker that built it, along with the price, the sale date, and even the actual identity of the purchasing consumer! Breguet made the first Breguet automatic watch, the Perpétuelle in 1765. Today Breguet watches are highly fashionable and each one is fine tuned by hand.
